In the spirit of equipping people for the reality of leading an organization in this age, the Generative Leadership (or LFG as it has been known) was born. This program goes beyond the transitional skills-based (mastery of skills = good leadership) or ideology-based (living certain principals = good leadership) programs, that have and continue to do much good, but just aren’t enough.  

 

Generative Leadership programs take a transcendental approach to leadership development, which sounds exotic, but simply means, helping leaders transcend to elevated states of awareness where new perspectives, incredible opportunities and ways through the chaos become obvious and accessible. Those new discoveries are then put into play as the program equips leaders with the ability to focus their energy how, when, and where it will make the biggest difference.

The program is based on a powerful set of provocative beliefs on leadership, and the idea that great leadership is best experienced as a pursuit, not a destination. The foundational question that has continued to feed the thriving community of participants during and long after the program is, “What if leadership were choosing to take a posture of responsibly for the lives you touch?” This one question along with 12 other key beliefs are the foundation that allow the program to have the profound impact participants enjoy.  

 

It’s the application of learning where benefits are truly realized 

The program is meticulously designed to ensure the teachings of the program are applied, by ensuring that the 12 powerful tools that make up the program are instantly and equally applicable to work and life. In addition, intentional interactions are specifically designed to encourage attendees to explore and apply concepts in the many dimensions of a leader's busy life. The program is also lightweight and packs a big punch, meaning it doesn’t take a lot of participation time (typically 2.5 hours a week) to have a game-changing impact.

Brené Brown’s work has made clear that courage and vulnerably rise together. You can’t have one without the other. To grow takes courage, and of course courage is a willingness to be vulnerable, to not have the answers, and to openly struggle with new ideas. We pay meticulous attention to creating the spaces in which growth is encouraged, and to ensure trust is flowing to such a degree that everyone in the program, including the facilitator, is able to reveal their true selves, exercise their imaginations, to experiment, and fail and recover, with the compassionate support of the rest of the group.
